In accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Ministry of Culture, the education offered by the Conservatoire aims to prepare musicians, dancers, actors and singers to have the artistic skills to express themselves fully in an amateur or a professional environment. It encourages openness and curiosity of mind and emphasises collective practices. Many public projects encourage this objective, thanks, in part, to a rich partnership with other cultural structures in the community and with other comparable institutions in France and abroad.

The Conservatoire defines its mission around key fundamental themes:

  • achieving a balance between the content and training objectives of the pre-professional levels (3e et 4e cycles) and the requirements of higher education,
  • the validation of the "amateur" vocation, the pleasure and recreation of an arts education and schooling
  • a broad policy of diffusion on a local, regional and international level.
  • an increased decentralization in the arrondisements (administrative sections of the city), an establishment of links with the nearby structures (cultural centres social centres ...), a widening of the classical and contemporary fields (music and dance) and also jazz, early music, composition, modern music, song, world music,
  • close cooperation with the Department of Education, including musical intervention in primary schools that is an ongoing development spanning several decades,
  • widening the range of disciplines: classical and contemporary fields (music and dance), but also in jazz, early music, composition, modern music, song, world music,
  • the breaking down of perceived barriers between disciplines and the encouragement of a synergy between departments,
  • encouraging creativity, whether it be in young artists or in the choice of teaching pieces.
