The Syndicat mixte de Gestion du Conservatoire (Governing Body)

« The Conservatoire de Lyon is administered by a joint management involving the City of Lyon and the Rhône Department, whose operational methods are set by statute. Its purpose is the joint management, control, and promotion of activities and facilities at the Conservatoire, to dispense music, vocal, lyrical and theatrical teaching. »

It consists of 12 members:

3 members designated by law: the Mayor of Lyon, the President of the Rhône General Council, the Deputy Mayor of Lyon (Culture portfolio)

9 representatives appointed by communities from among their representatives: 4 delegates from the Rhône General Council, 5 representatives of the City Council of Lyon

The Conservatoire's total budget for 2009 was 11 000 000 €. Over 82% of its revenue comes from public monies and in particular the contributions of the City de Lyon and the Rhône Department (respectively 6.6 and 1.6 million euros). In addition the state and the Region Rhone-Alpes provisioned grants in the amount of respectively 461 000 and € 141 000 €.

The "Commissions Consultative" (Advisory Committees)

The "Commission Pédagogique et Technique" (Education and Technical Committee)

This committee is consulted on all technical and pedagogical issues that come to the attention of the Governing Body and/or the Director. It is a place for debate and exchange contributing to a broad dissemination of the educational policies of the institution to its users, and its adaptation to the public's expectations.

The Commission Pédagogique et Technique is composed of the following persons: 1 representative of the State, 2 elected members of the governing body, the Director and his deputies, 2 teacher representatives, 2 parents representatives, 2 student representatives, 2 experienced people from the arts world, 3 representatives of the administration, the Principals of institutions affiliated to the Conservatoire (with integrated class timetables: Classes à Horaires Aménagés)

The "Conseil Intérieur" (Inner Council).

This advisory body reunites several times a year representatives of all those who interact with the Conservatoire: parents, students, teachers, and the management of the Conservatoire. The inner council deals with all matters concerning the life and wellbeing of the institution.

In addition, internal regulations define the Conservatoire's general procedures and operation, and the rights and responsibilities of teachers and students.
