The actions of the Conservatoire for the disadvantaged:
Each year the Conservatoire accomplishes roughly forty projects aimed to benefit:
>>People facing social or physical challenges
Don't forget that all concerts or performances organized by the Conservatoire are free. The Conservatoire has also signed an agreement with the Association "Culture pour tous" (Culture for all) to host in optimum conditions, people who are in difficult social situations or are returning to the workplace. They are furthermore invited to attend rehearsals and exchanges with professors and students.
>> Residents of Homeless Shelters
CHRS La Cité (managed by the Foundation Army): 4 to 5 concerts scheduled for this year.
>> Persons with Disabilities
Partnership with "Lethé Musicale" (since 2005): hosting two weekly workshops in the Conservatoire building and the preparation of a joint concert with student musicians from the Conservatoire in a project promoting the mix of musicians with or without disabilities.
Partnership with La Ferme du Vinatier (since 2003): Conservatoire professors lead workshops (3 in the 8th arrondisement and one in the 5th arrondissement) for children and adolescents with mild or advanced autism, aged 6 to 13 years (a total of 200 teaching hours per year).
Partnership with the "l'Institut Médico-Educatif de Fourvière" (Medical-Education Institute): visits from the Conservatoire to the Music Workshop of the IME Fourviere and exchanges with teachers and music and dance students of the Conservatoire.
>> Public with limited mobility
In the Hospitals:
Partnerships with associations working in hospitals; Volontariat au Service de l'Art (Voluntary Art Service / VSArt): 7 to 8 concerts per year proposed by students of chamber music, jazz ... etc.) or directly with Hospitals: Hôpital de Fourvière (3 to 4 concerts per year), Centre de Rééducation Fonctionnelle des Massues(Rehabilitation Centre) pediatric and adult sections: 5 to 6 concerts per year.
Retirement Homes in the City of Lyon (since 2005):
Under the auspices of Lyons' action plan, « Culture pour les seniors » (Culture for senior citizens) : 8 to 10 concerts per year.
In March 2007, the Johann Strauss Orchestra of the Conservatoire, reuniting 50 musicians, teachers and students, gave a concert of waltzes and polkas in the Justin Godard Room of City Hall for an audience of 300 senior citizens.
An original intergenerational creativity project: « Coup de chaud sur Minipax »
A musical theatre production designed and directed by Paul Cornet, a teacher at the Conservatoire and Damien Faure, "Coup de chaud sur MiniPax" evokes in a humorous and offbeat way, the sometimes delicate relationships, between generations.
This show was created April 7, 2008, in the marquee of the Opéra-Théâtre by 3 classes of the Ecole Giono (Giono School) and the instrumental ensemble of the Conservatoire's 4th CHAM with senior citizens from the Residence EDYLA.
Finally, far from being a one-sided policy regarding this "challenged" public, the Conservatoire's students and teachers are always open to the ideas and propositions of outside partners:
Lethé Musical (in an agreement with the Conservatoire) offers our teachers a continuous training plan specifically orientated to bringing music to the disabled.
An osteopath of the Hôpital de Fourvière provides medical supervision to some of our students on the conditions linked to the playing of instruments, singing and dance.
At the same time as our teenage students give concerts (Choral or instrumental) in the paediatric ward of the Centre de Rééducation des Massues (Rehabilitation Centre), the hosts propose a citizen awareness program on road violence and its consequences for children or adolescents. |
